Kate Boon

Shift and V&A Director

"Engineering seemed a good blend of real world and maths problems and I studied a master’s in Engineering Science at University. I joined Scottish Power as an undergrad with paid placements each summer and a bursary each year. From there I moved to their graduate program and enjoyed a two-year program before taking a role as a Senior Authorised Distribution Engineer in North Wales.

This role was a great technical place to start my career and at that time, the 90s, I was a woman in a man's world and some aspects were physically challenging for 5'4" frame. I had to adapt. Get linesman, joiners, with much longer experience to support me and work in a different way. I did this for 2 years and then took a commercial role in Scottish Power.

Finally, I moved to Engie (24 years ago!) as a shift trader initially and then in various Commercial Management roles to where I am now, the Shift and V&A Director."
